Adult Protective Services

 

 

Abuse, neglect, or exploitation of a disabled adult or elder person is a felony crime in Georgia.

 

In an emergency situation, call 911 to report abuse of a disabled adult (18+).

 

DHR Division of Aging Services Adult Protective Services (APS) handles reports of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation of disabled adults (18-64) or elder persons (65+) who reside in the community.  This includes any disabled adult / elder person who is a resident of Georgia or is currently located in Georgia 

 

  1. who is believed to have been abused, exploited, or neglected by a caregiver or other individual or
  2. who is experiencing self-neglect and is in need of protective services.

 

Reports of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation in the community should be made to:
